World Rally Championship fans are (always) voicing their thoughts when it comes to their dreams and desires to see manufacturers which may (or, may not) have participated in the past drink the Kool-Aid and take the plunge (back) into the hammerhead tank. So, imagine the excitement that exploded like a bomb in a down pillow factory when Toyota Motorsport unleashed some teasers of a few things they have been working on. Cloaked in ambiguity, the Japanese constructors (really) had no chance of keeping this one a quiet thought.
Unfortunately, judging by the presence of pink and a uterus, it would appear that any sort of potential return to the WRC could take even longer than even the most realistic of cheerleaders could imagine. She may have natural talent, but is she pretty enough to get the attention needed to land sponsors? And, if she is, will she be able to convince everyone that there is more to her than just a pretty face, that she is not just a novelty and worth a long-term investment? Because, that is what she will have to do. It will be a never ending war, taken battle by battle, with few free and clear wins. The good news is that she will be flexible, not only ready, willing, and able to fight in a good uphill battle, but more ready for a hill climb than anyone would ever bother to give her credit for. That said, this little engine who could, one day, make it to the WRC, might just be built tougher than she appears.
(Now, can we, please, call her Tinkerbell?)
